Our team of volunteers is very important to our success as an organization and we are always appreciative of anyone who would like to join us. By volunteering at MDAO, you are helping us to fulfill our mission and mandate.
MDAO is currently recruiting volunteers for phone support and our mentorship program.
Benefits of being an MDAO Volunteer
When you volunteer, you join a team of generous, supportive and accepting individuals. You will meet new people, make new friends, and be involved in purposeful, meaningful work. In addition, MDAO volunteers:
- Receive initial training and have on-going support and training opportunities
- Receive a complimentary membership
- Learn more about mood disorders, treatments, and personal coping skills
- Have access to skill building activities such as computer work
- Build on their existing skills such as interpersonal communication, telephone skills, etc.
- Have the personal satisfaction of knowing that they are doing an important job and helping others.
What Volunteers Do
- Provide leadership as facilitators in support groups
- Provide support, information and resources through our telephone support lines
- Act as hosts for public education activities and events
- Provide administrative support to our programs and in the MDAO office and/or library
- Write and/or edit our newsletter and other publications.
